Homework #3

August 25th, 2009

10th grade classes only

Often we get bogged down with living our own life and forget just how lucky we really are.  We have been studying Alice Walker who writes her own blog.  Her site is: www.alicewalkersblog.com/

Read her entry for August 9, 2009.  What did you find out about her that you didn’t know already?  She quotes Buddha:

Three things cannot be hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
How is this quote particularly apropos for this blog entry?  If you could meet her, what questions would you like to ask her?  Did reading this change your opinion of her as an author or person?

Respond to this entry here by September 4th as a homework assignment.

Homework #1

August 23rd, 2009

Do you know your learning style?  NC State University has a free test that you can take to discover your style.  Your first homework assignment is to visit: http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html and take the learning style inventory. Print out the results and pass them in. This assignment is due on Monday, August 31st.

I am fairly well-balanced between active and reflective and sensing and intuitive. However, I am more visual and sequential, rather than verbal and global. How did your inventory turn out?  Why do you think it is important for you and your teachers to know your learning style?
